An ecologist and consulting arborist, Matt has more than 20 years’ experience working within the environmental industry in Australia and England. He’s worked in roles focused on environmental interpretation, impact minimalization, and the restoration of indigenous vegetation communities. Most recently, he’s specialized in the development of environmental management strategies relating to major infrastructure upgrade projects.
Matt’s career highlight to date involves playing a key role in the development and delivery of a successful pilot urban park ranger service in Nottingham, United Kingdom. This service aimed to provide conservation outcomes, environmental education, and opportunities for inclusion and stewardship for the local community. Ten years on, the service has been so successful and well received that it has become fully imbedded in the council budget.
In his spare time, Matt’s the president of a local community group that plays an important part in the management of local conversation reserves. He also enjoys going to the football (AFL) with his extended family or having a kick in the park with his two sons.
