Lucky to live by the sea, Martha cares deeply about our water. For over 15 years as a water resources engineer, she’s specialized in hydraulic modeling. Her projects have ranged from sewer separation and watershed management to inflow/infiltration studies and combined sewer overflow (CSO) mitigation. She finds it particularly rewarding when she helps clients manage the complex dynamics of CSOs by replicating them in models.
Witnessing the benefits of reducing and eliminating CSOs first-hand has been very fulfilling. One exemplary project, the CAM004 in Cambridge, involved three projects with the goal of addressing CSOs and inadequate storm drainage. Martha brought her skills to this effort for almost four years, doing field inspections, creating detailed gravity sewer and drain design, and supporting construction management.
The culmination of the project? A complete sewer separation with no more CSOs, a happy client, a satisfied community, and a wonderful public open space.
