Drawing on a 30-year career, Mark is our practice lead for geotechnical engineering and geohazards. He takes overall responsibility for the technical output of a national UK team of geotechnical engineers—to support our multidisciplinary teams.
When working on ports, rail, highways, and other projects, Mark draws on his experience in defense, infrastructure, logistics, commercial, strategic land acquisition, and asset management. He’s an advocate for using geospatial techniques in developing conceptual ground models throughout each stage of a project. With expertise in geohazards and slope instability, he’s also passionate about communicating temporal and spatial risk.
A fellow of the Geological Society of London and the Royal Geographical Society, Mark is also a member of the British Geotechnical Association.
When he isn’t working with his geotechnical team, Mark loves being outdoors—he spends his free time with his wife Kate, walking, surfing, canoeing, paddle boarding, and cycling. Mark and Kate have two grown up kids, who share their passion for fresh air!
