Jordan is Stantec’s urban design discipline lead, based in his hometown of Denver, Colorado. He loves cities, their design, and how people interact with them—he says urban design is as much a philosophy as a skill set and a lens through which we can view all projects and how they fit into the urban fabric. Working across sectors and disciplines, his mission is to raise the profile of urban design and establish Stantec as an industry-leading practice. He sees his discipline as the “tip of the spear,” setting the vision and structure through which many great buildings, parks, and infrastructure projects can follow. He balances his creative side with a strategic view that ensures great ideas become real community spaces.
He is passionate about his career and takes his passion into the community through teaching in the Master of Urban Design program at the University of Colorado Denver. He is also a member of the Denver Planning Board and chairs the Urban Mobility and Development Committee for the local chapter of the Urban Land Institute. Jordan says if he didn’t do this for a living, it would be a hobby instead!
Urban design is never far from his mind. Away from work, he enjoys exploring urban spaces on his bike. At home he enjoys time with his wife and son and another creative passion, playing music.
