Álvaro has always been interested in working with urban and rural communities and seeing how they relate to their surroundings and environment. With more than 20 years of experience in public engagement, local development, and stakeholder management, he currently serves as an environmental manager and is responsible for leading the technical and strategic aspects of our environmental projects.
One of Álvaro’s most rewarding projects was an environmental impact assessment for the Blanco Project, a lithium project located in an area with a national park, Indigenous communities, and with great ecosystem attributes. He also worked on an environmental impact assessment for the ALMA Observatory, a non-mining project that gave him insight into the scope and contribution of the observatory to science and communities, and a green hydrogen (H2V) environmental sensitivity analysis in Magallanes.
Away from project work, Álvaro enjoys spending time with his wife and young daughter, reading, photography, and taking drum classes.
