Dr. Sam Abbaszadeh is our global tailings technical practice lead and a senior geotechnical engineer with nearly 20 years of broad experience in multiple industries, including mining, hydropower, and oil and gas. He has experience with complex and international projects that involve multidisciplinary design and construction teams. His main expertise includes design and analysis of dams, advanced geotechnical modeling, earthquake engineering, and liquefaction assessment.
Sam is currently serving as the deputy engineer of record for three legacy tailings storage facilities in Arizona and supporting other facilities in South America, Australia, Asia, and North America.
An enthusiastic researcher, Sam has published and presented numerous technical papers at various national and international conferences. Outside of work, Sam loves to cook, mostly Persian and Mediterranean cuisine, play tennis, and spending time with his family and friends.
