08/07/2024 DENVER, CO TSX,NYSE:STN

Stantec, a global leader in sustainable design and engineering, has selected Nancy Locke as its new Landscape Architecture Discipline Leader (DL) for North America. In her new role, she will collaborate with Stantec’s Community Development leadership, sector marketing, and landscape architecture leaders to grow the firm’s North American practice. She will drive initiatives that elevate the Stantec brand and advance the discipline’s best practices and ability to innovate and deliver for the firm’s clients.

With decades of experience in urban design, city planning, and landscape architecture, Locke brings a diverse range of expertise and experience to this role. Her portfolio features local and global works in municipal projects, mixed-use developments, higher education, and conservation planning, among other typologies. She has built her career as a collaborative designer on master planning and urban design projects.

“Throughout my career I’ve taken great pride in supporting communities around the world in their efforts in creating more connected, sustainable, and equitable cities,” stated Locke. “I welcome and look forward to the opportunity to help our teams grow our Community Development and landscape architecture practices.”

Prior to this new role, Locke led the urban design and landscape architecture studio in Stantec’s Denver, Colorado office. Throughout her career at Stantec, she has supported and worked on some of the firms most notable projects, including the Dubai South Master Planned Community, the Park Hill Golf Course Redevelopment, and the firm’s design efforts on the celebrated City Heights Residential Hall at the University of Colorado Denver.

“Supporting cities in their efforts to better connect and serve their communities is core to the work we do,” said Simon O’Byrne, senior vice president and Community Development business leader. “Nancy’s impressive background and portfolio will be a welcome addition to our leadership teams. I look forward to working with her in her new role.”

Stantec has a long track record of supporting Community Development and landscape architecture projects across North America and globally. The firm served as lead designer for the Albany Skyway, the first project of its kind to convert an elevated highway ramp into an ADA-compliant linear park. Stantec also led the design on the East Midtown Greenway, a project will help fully encircle Manhattan with a safe bicycle and pedestrian pathway. Additionally, Stantec supported the design and planning efforts of the Blue and Green Corridors project in New Orleans.
