Stantec to manage EU’s public and economic diplomacy outreach in Hong Kong

The European Commission has selected Stantec to lead the EU-Hong Kong Engagement Support Facility, a foreign policy initiative seeking stronger people-to-people relations between the European Union and the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR). Through various outreach activities, the initiative will pursue greater engagement with Hong Kong’s civil society, business community, academia, and political institutions.

As manager of the program, Stantec’s international development team in Belgium will organize activities in the field of public and economic diplomacy, including events, workshops, and dialogues with different stakeholder communities in Hong Kong. The outreach activities will focus on mutually beneficial topics, such as regional cooperation, digital transition, business and law, green transition, human rights, and education. The program will also explore cooperation opportunities between the EU and Macao.

Since 2007, EU and Hong Kong officials have been cooperating through the EU-Hong Kong Structured Dialogue, a meeting that took place yearly before the COVID-19 pandemic. The EU-Hong Kong Engagement Support Facility will support these dialogues and identify other areas with potential for enhancing bilateral ties.
