Awards recognize two water projects and an employee service award for work making a difference in Tennessee
The American Council of Engineering Companies (ACEC) of Tennessee have recognized Stantec with three awards for engineering excellence and impactful work. The awards demonstrate the firm’s commitment to safeguarding water resources and serving communities in Tennessee.
Grand Award in Industrial and Manufacturing Processes and Facilities (Large Projects): Santee Cooper Cross & Winyah ELG Projects
Stantec provided engineering design services for a wastewater treatment system at two Santee Cooper generating facilities. The systems will treat and manage wastewater to meet the US EPA’s effluent limitation guidelines. The multidisciplinary team provided project management, sampling, bench testing, design, and construction to deliver a robust system that protects water quality and complies with regulations.
Grand Award in Waste and Stormwater (Large Projects): Lynnbrook Park and Stream Restoration
In order to reduce flooding, Stantec partnered with the City of Chattanooga to restore a natural stream channel within a public park. Using green infrastructure, water flowing into the park is slowed, cleaned, and released into the primary stream channel.
The park offers playgrounds, a walking path, open gathering areas, a pavilion, and a grilling area. It also features a pedestrian bridge and recreational opportunities for the community, all in the midst of the naturalized stream.
Tennessee Community Service Award: Marc Pearson
For nearly two decades, Marc Pearson, senior principal and business center operations leader at Stantec, has exemplified what it means to lead through service, investing his time into strengthening Middle Tennessee communities.
He serves with Academies of Nashville, Metro Nashville Public Schools, and as board chair for the Engineering Academy at John Overton High School. Beyond education, Marc is involved in the Nashville Chamber’s Education Report Committee and the Association of State Floodplain Manager’s Foundation, where his advocacy helps build more resilient communities.
