Looking back at where we donated, volunteered, and continued important initiatives in our communities
It’s time to reflect on the remarkable year we’ve had at Stantec. From deepening our commitment to community along with our passion for sustainability and equity to celebrating milestones in community engagement, this year has truly showcased the power of coming together to make a difference. Let’s look back on some of the incredible achievements and initiatives that have defined 2024.
In June, we completed our 11th annual Stantec in the Community (SITC) Week, where a record 7,656 employees volunteered with 440 organizations globally. This was our largest participation since 2016, demonstrating the passion and dedication of our people to give back to their communities. Whether cleaning parks, supporting food banks, or engaging in educational activities, SITC Week was a testament to how small actions can create lasting impacts.
This year, we celebrated our 70th anniversary with an initiative to donate to 70 different organizations around the globe. Employees submitted an astounding 933 nominations for charities and organizations close to their hearts. From these, we selected 70 organizations, representing every region of Stantec, to receive donations. This initiative not only honored our history but also highlighted the caring nature of our team.
With their enthusiasm sparked, employees shared their stories on our Viva Engage page about why the nominated charities matter to them. For those whose charities were not selected, we encouraged continued connection through our Dollars for Doers (D4D) program.
Dollars for Doers reinforces our dedication to fostering a culture of connection and giving back through volunteering their time to not-for-profits they’re connected with. Thanks to our Stantec volunteers, in 2024 we donated just under $60,000 to local charities and organizations around the globe.
September marked the launch of the fifth annual Stantec Equity & Diversity Scholarship. This program continues to champion students pursuing post-secondary education in STEAM fields.
Over the past four years, we’ve supported 30 interns and over 200 students. This year included a special focus on employee engagement, encouraging staff to connect with local organizations and educational institutions to amplify the scholarship’s reach.

In 2024, our teams in Canada and Australia joined forces with Habitat for Humanity (H4H) for SITC Week, participating in six impactful Build Days. These projects focused on Indigenous housing and supporting the Aboriginal Women and Children’s Crisis Centre, demonstrating our commitment to fostering equity and creating safe spaces for those in need. The volunteer slots filled quickly, a testament to the enthusiasm and dedication of our employees.
Similarly, our partnership with the Nature Conservancy of Canada (NCC) brought employees together in Alberta and Quebec for the Big Backyard BioBlitz, promoting biodiversity and conservation efforts. These partnerships reflect our commitment to addressing critical global challenges while empowering local action.
2025 will see a continued—and expanded—partnership with both organizations.
In November, Stantec employees once again united for Movember, emphasizing the importance of men’s mental health. The campaign raised $70,000 globally. This year, we continued to support global mental health organizations such as MIND (UK), the Canadian Mental Health Association, and Mental Health America, alongside our internal programs like the BetterTogether Fund that supports our employees impacted by disasters and the Employee and Family Assistance Program (EFAP).
Our annual holiday donation, an enduring tradition since 2010, reached new heights this year. With $150,000 reaching our communities, this initiative supports 10 organizations worldwide, reinforcing our commitment to making a meaningful impact where we live, work and play. Employees played a vital role by voting for the charities, ensuring their voices shaped our contributions.
In 2024, we expanded opportunities for employee engagement. The ACE Mentor Program introduced a new scholarship for ACE students which saw $25,000 go towards continued education for 10 students. We will continue with this successful scholarship program in 2025.
We also implemented monthly coffee chats in the United States and Greater Toronto Area, offering insights into mentoring and starting new chapters. Take a look at some of our inspiring ACE mentors who began their journey as mentees themselves.
As we look forward to 2025, we are reminded that the true strength of Stantec lies in its people. Each initiative, whether global or local, reflects our shared values and vision for a better future. Thank you to every employee, partner, and community member who has contributed to making this year memorable!
