Riverside Energy Park

Helping our client deliver a nationally significant infrastructure project

    London, United Kingdom

An integrated energy park that promotes low carbon, renewable energy

Our teams acted as lead planning and environmental advisor to Cory Riverside Energy to support its application for a development consent order (DCO) for Riverside Energy Park. This integrated energy park comprises an energy from waste facility, anaerobic digestion facility, battery storage, and solar photovoltaics—and is expected to have an electrical output of approximately 96 megawatts.

We supported our client through both the pre-application and examination processes (including providing expert witness support). Other services included advising on both waste and DCO planning policy, leading the development of the consultation strategy, and supporting the client with both stakeholder and public consultation events.

Beyond coordinating the environmental impact assessment, we provided all technical environmental assessments and advice on topics including air quality, noise, ecology, hydrology and flood risk, landscape, ground conditions, transport, and socioeconomics. A health impact assessment was also undertaken, and specific strategic ecological advice was provided on the approach to achieving biodiversity net gain.

Once consented, REP will play a key role in the delivery of London’s sustainable waste and energy infrastructure.
