One year after opening, a thorough, wide-ranging assessment was called for

The Forth Replacement Crossing Project is the project behind Scotland’s largest road infrastructure investment in a generation, the Queensferry Crossing. The new Crossing opened on 30 August 2017 and is integral to central Scotland’s transport network, providing a reliable primary road link between Edinburgh, the Lothians and Fife, and beyond.

In keeping with the Monitoring and Evaluation Strategy for trunk road projects in Scotland, Transport Scotland commissioned Stantec to undertake the One Year After Opening evaluation of the Forth Replacement Crossing Project. The main purpose of this evaluation is to provide an early indication, as far is reasonably practical, that the project is operating as planned and is on track to achieve its objectives.

The One Year After Opening evaluation assessed the performance of the project against its Objectives and Commitments as well as its impacts upon Scottish Transport Appraisal Guidance (STAG) and Design Manual for Roads and Bridges (DMRB) criteria. It also included a Process Evaluation, which reflected on the planning, procurement and delivery of the project.

The report on the findings of the Forth Replacement Crossing Project One Year After Opening evaluation can be found here.
