With nearly 10 years of experience in planning and consenting, Julian is a chartered town planner with the Royal Town Planning Institute who advises clients on development and infrastructure projects across the energy, water, transport, and mixed-use sectors. He believes that the interdisciplinary nature of modern planning requires a curious mindset to address practical consenting issues and navigate an increasingly complex regulatory environment.
Julian enjoys working within various consenting regimes and has recently focused on managing Nationally Significant Infrastructure Projects (NSIPs) in England. He’s acted as the expert planning witness at the hearings for the M3 Junction 9 Improvement scheme, on behalf of National Highways, and currently advises SSE Renewables/RWE on the North Falls Offshore Wind Farm project. He’s developed a strong understanding of the relevant European legislation including the Environmental Impact Assessment Directive, Water Framework Directive, and Habitats Directive, which are applicable across jurisdictions.
When he isn’t busy with planning projects, Julian enjoys hiking in the Wicklow Mountains and exploring Ireland’s diverse coastlines.
