Stantec, a global leader in sustainable design and engineering, has appointed a trio of technical directors to bolster its growing United Kingdom and Ireland water business. Anna Boyles, Martin Hennessey, and Sandra Rolfe-Dickinson have all joined Stantec as the firm supports the sector in meeting its AMP8 challenges.
Anna Boyles, driving environmental performance
In her prior role as head of environmental performance at Thames Water, Boyles led a number of strategic programmes and implemented approaches to mitigate the major drivers of pollution across the water company’s wastewater asset base. Her responsibilities included delivering cost-effective, sustainable pollution reduction strategies, and overseeing pollution reporting processes.
Having worked in the water sector for more than 28 years, Boyles will use her extensive wastewater network expertise to help to improve the environmental impact of water companies across the country throughout AMP8 and beyond.
“The immense scale of the challenge for the water sector over the next five years also brings opportunities for greater innovation and collaboration,” said Boyles commenting on her appointment. “The increase in funding and investment means that we can deliver transformative, long-term solutions that will improve river health and water quality nationwide. I have known and worked alongside Stantec’s teams extensively, and their reputation for delivery and their internal culture really stood out to me. I’m excited to leverage this as I work on projects and programmes that make a major difference to communities and the environment.”
Boyles is based out of Stantec’s Reading office.
Martin Hennessey, delivering outcomes and strategic change
Hennessey joins Stantec from his previous role as director of capital delivery at Dŵr Cymru Welsh Water. During his time at Welsh Water, he was responsible for leading the delivery of its capital programmes for the last 15 years. Hennessey has also built a wealth of experience in contract management and developing collaborative arrangements between partners and stakeholders.
Hennessey brings more than 35 years of client-side experience to Stantec, having also worked in a senior role for Yorkshire Water, spearheading its water capital investment programme, while developing and implementing operational strategies.
In his new position as executive technical director at Stantec, Hennessey will use his operational, capital programme delivery and contract management experience to support the Company in advising clients around maintenance, operational, and investment decisions across their water networks.
“I’ve watched as Stantec has built up a fantastic amount of trust across the entire water sector, and the calibre of the expertise within its ranks is second to none,” commented Hennessey when speaking about his new position. “This is the single most important time for the UK water sector, and I’m looking forward to making use of our local, national, and global expertise to deliver efficiencies and meaningful outcomes for clients.”
Hennessey is based out of Stantec’s Cardiff office.
Sandra Rolfe-Dickinson, global pipeline expertise
Rolfe-Dickinson has worked in the UK and Canadian water sectors for more than 35 years. She is recognised for her extensive expertise in pipeline design, condition assessment, and rehabilitation. In her new role as senior technical director, she will now help Stantec deliver robust and sustainable pipeline solutions for clients as they futureproof their networks.
Rolfe-Dickinson previously worked for MWH for around 24 years, a company Stantec acquired in 2016. She commented: “It is wonderful to be back within the Stantec family, reconnecting with colleagues old and new. I’m looking forward to the immense pipeline infrastructure challenges AMP8 will bring.”
Rolfe-Dickinson is based in Stantec’s High Wycombe office.
Tim Williams, strategic growth and business development director, Stantec added: “As we move into AMP8, I’m delighted to welcome Martin, Sandra, and Anna into our business. They are all renowned in the industry and will serve as incredibly valuable strategic additions to our technical teams.”
