As part of North Somerset Council’s Bus Service Improvement Plan, Stantec and Griffiths will design and deliver nine highway schemes to support sustainable mobility

Stantec, a global leader in sustainable design and engineering, is supporting North Somerset Council in delivering its ambitious Bus Service Improvement Plan (BSIP).
Following a competitive tender process, the interdisciplinary firm will provide a wide variety of consultancy services for the council. These will help improve bus journey times and reliability across the region. Over the next two years, Stantec will collaborate with civil engineering contractor Griffiths to support the design and delivery of nine separate highway improvement schemes.
These schemes form part of a wider programme of works backed by £105 million of Government grant funding. North Somerset Council’s BSIP aims to elevate experiences for passengers, promote bus travel as a more attractive form of transportation, and ultimately support a sustainable modal shift across the West of England. The BSIP supports the council’s aspirations to reduce carbon emissions in the region by 464 kilotons annually.
Teams from Stantec’s Taunton, Exeter, and Bristol offices will work closely with Griffiths to provide technical support for the council across several areas. This includes landscape design, ecology, biodiversity net gain, highways design, geotechnical, environmental support, and carbon management.
