Stantec to coordinate design for the ‘urban heart’ of Ebbsfleet Garden City, Kent

Stantec has been appointed as lead Planner and Environmental lead for Ebbsfleet Central by the Ebbsfleet Development Corporation (EDC), following a competitive tender process using the Homes England Multidisciplinary Panel Framework.   

Ebbsfleet Central will form a dynamic urban centre for Ebbsfleet Garden City, adjacent to the existing HS1 high speed train station, and will provide jobs, homes, and cultural facilities. The commercial and residential centre will make the most of infrastructure constructed alongside the international railway station and will further garden city aspirations to form an ‘urban heart’ for the Ebbsfleet community and beyond.

Stantec has a long history with Ebbsfleet Garden City and has been providing a range of multi-disciplinary services to support the development for over 25 years. The latest appointment reinforces Stantec’s commitment to the scheme, which aims to combine the best of urban and rural living to provide up to 15,000 new homes and establish a new benchmark for 21st century development.

Ebbsfleet Garden City is important to Stantec. We have always designed with communities in mind and Ebbsfleet embodies this with its vision of high-quality living that prioritises sustainable design. Stantec’s experience in Ebbsfleet Garden City and in collaborative working on large complex sites contributed to Stantec’s appointment by EDC. Stantec’s approach capture the requirements for the Ebbsfleet Central area while retaining flexibility in implementing the masterplan.

Stantec will also provide EIA, landscape and economics services, supported by Orion Heritage on heritage issues.
