Early Careers Application FAQ
Step 1. Online Application
- Before you apply, please review our GenAI policy and look through our Graduate and or Apprentice brochures.
- Consider how you express yourself. To stand out in your application, demonstrate a keen interest in the discipline/industry and highlight your relevant experience in your CV.
- We’d love to hear about any paid or voluntary roles you have taken up, including any leadership roles at school or university, or any volunteering for a local sports or community group.

- Apply for Apprentice positions here.
- We close roles once we have received sufficient applicants. Don’t miss your chance!
Step 2. Aptitude Tests
- If successful, we will invite you to complete a series of task-based assessments using the Arctic Shores platform.
- This science-based assessment uses engaging tasks to gain valuable insights into your natural behaviours and skill indicators, allowing us to see your potential for growth in the role.
Step 3. Online Video Interview
- If successful, we will invite you to complete an online video interview. The video interview is an opportunity for you to showcase your interest and passion for your chosen career path. Relax and let your personality shine through!
Step 4. Face to Face Interview
- The final stage is an interview with the hiring manager and another team member. The interview will likely take place in person at the office where the role is based.
- This is a chance for you to go into more depth about your studies, work experience (if applicable) and how this relates to the role you applied for using a competency-based interview format. It is also a great opportunity to talk through why you are interested in this particular role and discipline at Stantec.
- As much as it’s about us finding out about you, it’s an opportunity for you to find out more about the team and the day-to-day of the role. Please do your research and come prepared with some questions!
Step 5. Offer
- If successful, we will call you to discuss your offer and send you an official contract.
Frequently Asked Questions
Do Stantec provide sponsorship?
For the majority of our Graduate and Apprentice roles, applicants must have an unconditional right to live and work in the UK for an indefinite period without limitation. Any variations in Right to Work requirements will be stated on the advert of the specific role.
Can I apply for more than one role?
Yes, however, only apply for office locations that you would like to be based in.
Please do not send your CV directly to individuals in the business, as these will not be processed.
When do job applications close?
We strongly recommend applying as soon as possible. Adverts will close as soon as we have sufficient applicants.
What happens after I submit my application?
Once you submit your application, our Early Careers Talent Acquisition team will do the initial screening. We aim to get back to everyone within three months, but this may vary. Due to applicant volumes, we are unfortunately unable to provide individual updates.
What happens if I am unsuccessful after the first stage?
We will notify you by email. Unfortunately, we cannot provide individual feedback due to the volume of applications received.
What degree disciplines do you recruit?
Please review the job advert for the specific degree discipline required. If you are still unsure, please email stantec.uk@stantec.com.
When does the graduate programme start?
Most of our graduates start in September. If an immediate start is required, this is stated in the job advert.
Does Stantec have a career development group?
Yes, we do. The Developing Professionals Group (DPG) gives employees in the initial stages of their career the chance to develop both technically and professionally and enables national and global collaboration. It’s a truly international network that, in addition to regional and local activities, gives a voice to our Developing Professionals.
How often will I be expected to come into the office?
We ask our graduates and apprentices to come into the office 4 days per week, to ensure that you receive sufficient time with your team and receive the appropriate level of support.
Do you provide a permanent contract?
Stantec UK is proud to provide all graduates with a permanent full-time contract, supporting a long-term commitment to Stantec’s early career professionals.
What does the Graduate Development Programme involve?
Your Professional Development Programme includes core training throughout your first three years at Stantec. The programme provides an enhanced training period and a community to engage with throughout your initial Professional Development. Once you’ve completed the three-year graduate core training period, you will continue to receive training and mentorship tailored to support your journey to becoming professionally chartered or qualified.
Where will I be based?
We have a national presence across the UK. Not every discipline recruits in every office, so please check the job advert for the location of the role.
Do you offer a rotational graduate programme?
Whilst we don't offer a formal rotational programme, we do encourage you to work with your mentor and manager to make the most of the extensive array of opportunities available across our sectors and geographies. Our multidisciplinary teams, the Early Careers Programme, the Developing Professionals Group and our Communities of Practice can all help you get connected and develop your career in an exciting and growing business.
What is your stance on the use of Gen AI in our recruitment process?
AI can be a valuable tool to enhance your application, however it shouldn’t replace your unique voice. Read our advice here.
