Amber is passionate about the aquatic environment. Every day, she works to promote the sustainable use of the Earth’s most important ecosystem through research and education—and she’s not afraid to get her hands wet doing so. Over the past 15 years, she’s worked in environmental consultancy, vocational training, research and government roles, specialising in aquatic environments for clients in the public and private sectors, building a track record of experience spanning all areas of aquatic industries.
These experiences revealed her passion for aquaculture—the growing of aquatic animals or cultivation of aquatic plants for food. Aquaculture is the fastest growing primary industry in the race to achieve food security for numerous nations, and Amber wants to ensure the industry progresses safely and sustainably. Recently, she’s been working with a client and stakeholders in the United Arab Emirates to find the best site for a new sea-pen development in Abu Dhabi.
Outside of work, she trades the aquatic environment for the terrestrial in her veggie garden, hoping, one day, to supply all her family’s fruits and vegetables from her own garden.
