When Ruby is in the field, amongst the diverse variety of Australian landscapes, she feels incredibly lucky to be outdoors working towards her passion—to nurture and protect the environment. As an environmental specialist and ecologist, she conducts ecological surveys and monitoring of flora and fauna, provides environmental support during construction, undertakes environmental assessments, and produces environmental management plans, among other tasks.
Ruby has a strong focus on achieving positive environmental outcomes. On one of her recent projects, she helped identify a Nationally Threatened Ecological Community of the Victorian Volcanic Plain, which involved a multi-criteria assessment of potential design options and allowed for the sensitive design and protection of the area.
You won’t catch Ruby inside too often. She enjoys hiking, camping, gardening, travelling, and riding her motorbike in her spare time. She also takes a special interest in native orchids and more recently, in mycology.
